New Feitian D & E Spacesuits Debut During Shenzhou-21 Spacewalk

On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Shenzhou-21 astronauts Zhang Lu and Wu Fei stepped outside their orbital outpost for the mission's first series of extravehicular activities (EVAs), testing two new D and E extravehicular spacesuits in their inaugural spacewalk.

Delivered by the Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft on July 15, these second-generation Feitian suits mark their debut in orbit. Both suits maintain the traditional white base but feature distinctive red and blue trims – color cues that help ground teams and fellow astronauts quickly identify each suit.

This milestone underscores China's ongoing push in space gear innovation. For young global citizens, tech enthusiasts, and changemakers, the arrival of the Feitian D and E suits signals a new chapter in crewed missions, where advanced design meets practical function.

As Shenzhou-21 continues, these cutting-edge suits will be key to future spacewalks, reflecting a blend of engineering precision and visual design that keeps pushing the boundaries of what's possible beyond Earth.
