On Monday, December 8, 2025, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged Japan to immediately cease what he described as dangerous harassment of China's routine military training activities in its designated sea and air zones.
At a Beijing press briefing, Guo emphasized that these exercises fully comply with international law and accepted global practice. He noted that carrier-based aircraft worldwide typically activate search radars during flight training as a standard safety measure.
Guo said that at the heart of the incident was a Japanese fighter jet trespassing into China's training zone, conducting close-in reconnaissance and interference before leveling false accusations. He added that Japan was distorting facts, shifting blame, and misleading the international community.
China has lodged stern representations and strong protests with Tokyo, expressing firm opposition to what it called irresponsible political manipulation. Guo denounced these actions as deliberate attempts to spread false information in the security domain at a sensitive moment, with the aim of creating regional tension.
