Last Saturday, hundreds of scientists, university leaders and entrepreneurs from across the globe converged in southwest Yunnan Province on the Chinese mainland for the opening of the 2025 Tengchong Scientists Forum. Centered on the theme "Science and AI Changing the World," the event kicked off with a main plenary session followed by more than 10 specialized sub-forums covering artificial intelligence, life sciences, next-generation materials and biodiversity conservation.
Throughout the forum, attendees have been exchanging insights on how to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world application. Panels on AI ethics, quantum computing roadmaps and sustainable biotechnology showcased data-driven breakthroughs and sparked collaborative discussions on driving innovation forward.
One highlight was the presentation of the Tengchong Science Award to Pan Jianwei, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recognized for his pioneering work in quantum communication and quantum computing. His achievements symbolize the growing synergy between academic excellence and industrial impact.
As the forum continues, participants are set to explore partnership opportunities, startup showcases and field visits to local research centers. By fostering international dialogue and cross-sector integration, the event aims to catalyze new collaborations that will shape the future of science and technology.
