Havana Youth Celebrate Classical Chinese Poetry and Dance

Havana, December 2025 6 A classical Chinese poetry festival was held recently in Havanas Chinatown, where young Cuban students brought ancient verses to life. Hosted by the Center of Chinese Arts and Traditions, the event featured children and teens enrolled in programs to learn Mandarin and explore centuries-old cultural practices.

On stage, participants interpreted iconic poems from renowned Chinese poets, blending recitation with traditional dance and music. Their performances showcased language skills and a deep appreciation for global heritage, turning each verse into a vibrant storytelling experience.

Learning these poems connects me to a world beyond borders, said one high school participant. Expressing emotion through words and movement has opened my mind to new cultures.

Organizers note that interest in Chinese arts has surged this year, with local schools offering more workshops on calligraphy, music and traditional dance. Havanas Chinatown continues to be a hub for cross-cultural dialogue, where young people engage with global traditions and forge lasting connections.

As cultural bridges strengthen, events like this festival highlight the power of art and language to unite communities across continents.
