Authorities report that floodwaters breached a dam, unleashing torrents across affected areas. The cyclone’s heavy rains and winds have disrupted lives and infrastructure nationwide.
Nearly one million people have been affected by the disaster, forced to navigate flooded roads and destroyed homes in its wake.
Close to 200,000 residents have taken refuge in 1,275 shelters set up on safer ground. Relief supplies are reaching stranded communities despite ongoing challenges.
Officials say they will work to restore essential services—electricity, water, and transport links—over the next three days, as communities begin the long road to recovery.
