Firefighting and search-and-rescue operations at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong, concluded at 10:18 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, local officials announced today.
Chris Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Security of the HKSAR government, confirmed that the blaze has claimed 128 lives, while approximately 200 residents remain unaccounted for. The Hong Kong Police Force will conduct a full evidence collection and investigation over the next three to four weeks.
Andy Yeung Yan-kin, director of Fire Services of the HKSAR government, reported that 391 fire engine sorties and 185 ambulance sorties were deployed, with 2,311 fire and ambulance personnel participating in the emergency response.
The Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee coordinated with Guangdong Province to provide assistance and support for relief efforts following the Tai Po fire.
Authorities continue working around the clock to locate the missing, support affected residents, and begin the long process of community recovery.
