Songkhla Flood Toll Rises to 55 Amid Recovery Efforts

Severe flooding in southern Thailand's Songkhla province has claimed 55 lives as of Nov 28, 2025, officials report. The death toll is expected to rise as search and recovery operations press on.

Government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat told reporters that data from Songklanagarind Hospital indicates 85 total fatalities linked to the crisis: 55 deaths directly from flood-related incidents, and 30 deaths during the emergency due to other causes.

Heavy rains in early November triggered flash floods and landslides, overwhelming rivers along the coast. Communities in coastal and low-lying areas have faced days of waterlogged streets and damaged infrastructure.

Recovery teams have mobilized flood rescue vessels, drones, and volunteers to reach isolated villages. Relief centers are providing shelter, food, and medical aid to more than 10,000 displaced residents.

Experts warn that climate volatility may heighten flood risks across the region. As recovery continues, authorities are evaluating flood defenses and early warning systems to build community resilience.

With families awaiting news of missing loved ones, officials emphasize caution and community solidarity as the focus shifts from rescue to rebuilding.
