China Expert Urges Japan to Uphold Peace Commitment

Victor Gao, vice president of the Center for China and Globalization, recently warned that Japan must not stray from its postwar commitment to peace. Speaking on November 24, 2025, Gao cautioned against any shift toward militarism under Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's leadership.

"We should never allow Japan to go back to fascism and militarism," he said, highlighting potential repercussions for the Japanese people, regional stability, and global security. Gao stressed that the Chinese mainland will remain vigilant and called on the international community to uphold peaceful norms.

Earlier this year, discussions in Japan over revising Article 9 of the Constitution have sparked domestic debate and international scrutiny. As defense policies evolve, experts emphasize the need for transparency and constructive dialogue.

With rising geopolitical tensions in East Asia, this debate underscores the importance of responsible leadership. Young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and policy analysts are watching closely, advocating for diplomacy and cooperation over confrontation.
