Chinese Premier Li Qiang Returns to Beijing After G20 Summit in South Africa

On Monday, November 24, 2025, Chinese premier Li Qiang returned to Beijing aboard a chartered flight after attending the 20th Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The annual gathering, which brought together leaders from the world’s major economies to discuss pressing global challenges, wrapped up over the weekend.

At O.R. Tambo International Airport, Li was warmly farewelled by South African Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng, underscoring the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Li’s visit highlights China’s continued engagement with fellow G20 members as governments seek collaborative solutions on issues such as economic recovery, health security and sustainable development.

Back in Beijing, observers will watch for updates on how the discussions in Johannesburg inform China’s domestic and international policy agendas in the months ahead.
