This week, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Both sides pledged to deepen cooperation across trade, infrastructure and security, building on what Japarov called "the best period in history" for Kyrgyzstan-China relations.
Japarov asked Wang to convey warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and extended congratulations on China's recent development achievements. He highlighted priorities for the year ahead: maintaining close high-level exchanges, expanding bilateral trade and advancing the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.
The leaders agreed to boost connectivity by strengthening cooperation in civil aviation, logistics and border port management. They also committed to deepening security collaboration to combat terrorism, separatism and extremism, reinforcing their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Japarov praised four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi and expressed readiness to coordinate with China within the United Nations and the China-Central Asia mechanism. He welcomed China’s support as Kyrgyzstan prepares to assume the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2026.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi’s sincere greetings to Japarov and emphasized that head-of-state diplomacy remains vital for guiding bilateral ties. "China will always be a trustworthy friend and reliable partner of Kyrgyzstan," he stated, reaffirming Beijing’s commitment to Kyrgyz sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Looking forward, both sides plan to translate their blueprints into action, advancing modernization and fostering new growth drivers in clean energy, digital trade and green mining. They also aim to deepen people-to-people exchanges, laying the groundwork for an even closer Kyrgyzstan-China community with a shared future.
For young entrepreneurs, digital nomads and travelers, improved air links and the new railway corridor promise faster routes across Central Asia, unlocking fresh opportunities for sustainable tourism and cross-border startups.
