Yesterday in Bishkek, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubaev convened their first-ever strategic dialogue, laying the groundwork for deeper bilateral ties.
Building on a consensus reached by the two heads of state, this new mechanism aims to strengthen strategic mutual trust, boost coordination on global affairs, and accelerate cooperation across multiple sectors. Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the goal of forging a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future—defined by good-neighborliness, friendship, and common prosperity.
China signaled full support for Kyrgyzstan’s upcoming rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, while Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle. Kulubaev emphasized plans to expand Belt and Road cooperation with China, targeting growth in trade and investment, agriculture and mining, and regional connectivity projects like the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
Both sides also pledged to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, implement the four global initiatives proposed by the Chinese side, and strengthen coordination within the United Nations and the broader China-Central Asia mechanism.
The strategic dialogue concluded with a joint statement on shared outcomes and a cooperation program for 2026-2027, setting a clear roadmap for the next phase of partnership.
For entrepreneurs, tech innovators, and digital nomads, the planned infrastructure upgrades and investment commitments promise new opportunities across Central Asia, while cultural exchanges could enrich the region’s tourism and creative industries.
