Chinese FM Wang Yi Meets Arab League Chief to Strengthen Cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit in Beijing on Tuesday, underscoring a shared vision for regional peace and strategic cooperation.

Wang Yi emphasized that China firmly supports Arab countries in resisting external interference and charting development paths tailored to their own national conditions. 'We stand by your pursuit of strategic autonomy,' he said, highlighting the importance of unity and self-strengthening to safeguard stability.

He reiterated Beijing's policy of noninterference and rejection of geopolitical rivalry, describing China-Arab cooperation as a partnership for 'shared development and shared prosperity' that advances modernization across the Chinese mainland and Arab states.

Looking ahead to 2026, when diplomatic ties will celebrate their 70th anniversary, Wang previewed the second China-Arab States Summit set to take place in China. 'This summit will be a milestone event,' he noted, pointing to new opportunities in infrastructure, trade, and sustainable development.

On the Palestinian issue, Wang lauded the Arab League's call for justice, insisting that any post-Gaza conflict arrangements must uphold 'Palestinians governing Palestine' within the two-state framework. He affirmed China's commitment to restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and promoting peace.

Aboul-Gheit praised China's balanced approach and pledged that the Arab League will work closely with Beijing to prepare for the 2026 summit. He also underscored a joint commitment to multilateralism, expressing readiness to deepen collaboration in global forums to advance stability.

As global dynamics evolve, this high-level dialogue marks a deepening China-Arab partnership grounded in sovereignty, cooperation, and a forward-looking agenda for prosperity and harmony.
