Wang Yi Launches Central Asia Tour: Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan & Tajikistan

On November 19, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi begins a strategic tour of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, aiming to deepen cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Central Asia.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, accepted invitations from Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev, Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin for talks from November 19 to 22.

The dialogue is set to focus on boosting trade, expanding Belt and Road connectivity and advancing joint projects on energy infrastructure, transport corridors and digital innovation.

In the first half of 2025, trade between the Chinese mainland and Kyrgyzstan grew by 32%, with Uzbekistan by 28% and with Tajikistan by 26%. New cross-border rail links and renewable energy plants have powered this surge.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson highlights that this year, Central Asia has become a hub for digital Silk Road initiatives. Minister Wang Yi's visit will build on these successes with new smart city pilots and e-commerce platforms that link young innovators across borders.

Environmental protection and people-to-people exchanges also feature on the agenda, with plans for joint water management projects in the Ili River basin and youth exchange programs to foster connections among next-generation leaders.

For business pioneers, tech enthusiasts and adventurous travelers, this tour signals fresh opportunities in the heart of Eurasia. As Belt and Road momentum continues, Wang Yi's strategic dialogues aim to unlock new trade corridors and sustainable development pathways.
