At Hong Kong SAR’s Kai Tak Sports Park, the fencing piste is alive with the clash of blades as athletes compete in the 15th National Games. This year’s events showcase emerging talents from across the SAR, all vying for a chance to make their mark on the national stage.
Among them is 17-year-old Lui Sum Yi Katy. Although she isn’t competing in the current National Games events, Katy has been training relentlessly and accumulating valuable ranking points toward her future qualifications. Her disciplined approach and unwavering spirit reflect the drive of Hong Kong’s next generation of athletes.
Looking ahead, Katy eyes representation at the upcoming Asian and World Youth Championships. For this aspiring champion, every training session and competition bout is a step closer to donning the Hong Kong SAR colors on an international piste.
A documentary titled "Game On, Kai Tak! – Road to the National Games" is slated for release soon, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the athletes’ preparation and the SAR’s journey through this National Games moment.
