China’s Navy Enters Three-Carrier Era to Strengthen Defense

At a press conference this Wednesday, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, highlighted the commissioning of the Fujian, marking a three-carrier era for China's Navy, a milestone in bolstering national defense.

With the Liaoning, the Shandong, and the Fujian now in service, these carriers, including the Fujian's new electromagnetic catapult system, represent significant strides in shipbuilding technology and military capability, Chen said.

Chen noted this enhanced fleet will help "safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and foil any forces or schemes that seek to violate or split China's sacred territory."

The Fujian's commissioning, the first of China's aircraft carriers with electromagnetic catapults, has attracted attention from media in the island of Taiwan, underscoring the Chinese mainland's recent advances in both productive forces and defense capabilities.

Spokesperson Chen's remarks came in response to queries about the Fujian's formal entry into service, a development that underscores the Chinese mainland's ongoing push to modernize its armed forces and enhance its capacity to protect sovereignty.
