Global Buyers Eye New Horizons at Canton Fair Under China’s 15th Five-Year Plan

The 138th Canton Fair recorded over $25 billion in intended export transactions, drawing attendees from 223 countries and regions. Held alongside the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the release of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the event showcased how policy direction can translate into real opportunities for global buyers.

"This fair serves as a global bridge," says a Canadian importer, "connecting us directly with suppliers on the Chinese mainland and opening doors to new markets." Returning and first-time visitors alike are exploring how richer, real-time engagement can accelerate deals.

A Nigerian entrepreneur highlights the plan's emphasis on green transition: "We're looking at eco-friendly technologies that support sustainable development back home," she says. The 15th Five-Year Plan's push for cleaner energy and digital infrastructure is already influencing cooperation between China and Africa in industries from renewables to smart agriculture.

Meanwhile, entrepreneurs from the UK are zeroing in on the shift from "Made in China" to "Intelligent Manufacturing in China." "Advanced robotics and AI-driven production lines showcased here are transforming global supply chains," notes a UK startup founder. This transition promises higher quality, faster lead times and more resilient logistics for international partners.

As young buyers and tech enthusiasts traverse the bustling halls of the Canton Fair, the 15th Five-Year Plan's focus on green transition, digital development and intelligent manufacturing is turning a historic trade event into a launch pad for the future of global commerce.
