In an exclusive CGTN interview, Lotte Rortoft-Madsen, chairperson of the Danish Communist Party, highlighted how the Communist Party of China (CPC) has built its international party-to-party exchanges on a foundation of equality. Her remarks shed light on why this approach matters for global collaboration and governance.
“Equality in international relations is invaluable,” Rortoft-Madsen said. “When parties meet as equals, they open doors for genuine dialogue, shared learning, and lasting partnerships.” From Latin America to Africa, she noted, this mindset has helped the CPC engage diverse political movements on a level playing field.
Turning to China’s latest Five-Year Plan, she lauded its bold ambitions. “The visions and goals set out for economic and social development show a people-centered approach at scale,” she explained. The plan’s emphasis on sustainable growth, tech innovation, and inclusive welfare resonated with her party’s own priorities back home.
Rortoft-Madsen also praised the Global Governance Initiative, a CPC proposal aimed at strengthening multilateral mechanisms. “In a world facing complex challenges—from climate change to digital divides—we need fresh models of cooperation. This initiative could drive more effective, transparent global policies,” she said.
Her insights underscore a broader trend: young leaders and thinkers around the world are looking beyond traditional power hierarchies. By championing equality and people-first strategies, the CPC’s approach offers new pathways for international engagement—pathways that may shape the next generation of global governance.
