Wu Yize Stuns Zhao Xintong to Reach WST International Championship Final

In a thrilling all-Chinese semifinal at the WST International Championship in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province on the Chinese mainland, Wu Yize stunned reigning world champion Zhao Xintong 9-6. The opening session ended 4-4 after Wu fired a massive 140 break to seize the fourth frame.

After the break, Wu dominated with four consecutive frames, racking up breaks of over 70—including a 108 century—to pull ahead. Zhao resisted by winning frames 13 and 14, but Wu sealed the deal 73-8 in frame 15 to book his final berth.

Now ranked world No. 22, Wu extends his personal record against Zhao to 6-3 and earns his first shot at the WST International Championship trophy. He’ll face the winner of the other semifinal between Scottish stars John Higgins and Stephen Maguire.

“I’ve watched John Higgins and Stephen Maguire play since I was a child,” Wu said. “I came here aiming to become champion, so I’ll prepare well for the final.”

The upcoming final promises another showcase of elite break-building and tactical flair as Wu bids for his maiden title and cements his rise on the global snooker circuit.
