Rwandan Ambassador to China James Kimonyo told CGTN’s Zhang Meng that the country’s high altitude, volcanic soil and favorable climate give its coffee, tea and chili a unique flavor and competitive edge.
Rwandan coffee, known for its smooth aroma and fully washed process, is now available on Tmall, JD.com and Taobao, capturing the attention of consumers across the Chinese mainland.
Beyond coffee, tea, chili, honey and avocados are also finding their way into Chinese shopping carts, thanks to growing demand for premium, sustainably sourced goods.
We are excited about this, Ambassador Kimonyo said. The remaining piece now is to invest heavily into production so that we can deliver more quantities to the Chinese mainland.
For young global citizens and business enthusiasts, Rwanda’s success story highlights how digital marketplaces can bridge distances, fuel economic growth and introduce new flavors to eager consumers worldwide.
