Big Market for All: Export to China Series Launches in Shanghai

On Tuesday in Shanghai, ahead of the eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE), officials and business leaders launched the Big Market for All: Export to China series.

At the ceremony, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao outlined the Chinese mainland's pragmatic steps to widen its opening up and promote balanced trade growth. He said the Commerce Ministry will host 10 themed events to build diversified channels for goods to enter the Chinese mainland, sharing opportunities with global partners and fostering a win-win cooperation pattern.

About 300 participants attended, including officials from relevant Chinese government departments, representatives of international organizations, overseas trade promotion agencies, business associations, and exhibitors and buyers from the CIIE. Foreign enterprise leaders praised the initiative, among them Luca de Meo of Kering Group, Craig Allen of the U.S.-China Business Council, and Tetsuro Honma of the China-Japan Chamber of Commerce.

They noted a strong demand for stability, predictability, and new cooperation prospects. One attendee said the series sends a clear message that the Chinese mainland is not only a massive consumer market but also a partner committed to sharing growth through institutional innovation.

As the CIIE gets under way, all eyes will be on how these events pave the way for deeper trade ties and a revitalized global trading system.
