Chinese premier Li Qiang met with Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut in Shanghai during the eighth China International Import Expo, emphasizing a plan to deepen China-Serbia ties for mutual benefit.
Underpinned by two meetings between heads of state this year, the two sides have forged a broad consensus on key issues, setting the stage for a China-Serbia community with a shared future.
Li highlighted the strategic blueprint laid out by China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) and Serbia’s "Serbia 2035" strategy, calling for closer alignment of development agendas and full use of the China-Serbia Free Trade Agreement.
He urged accelerating flagship projects such as the Belgrade–Budapest railway within the Belt and Road framework and tapping emerging sectors—from green technology and biomedicine to artificial intelligence—to boost trade and investment.
Beyond economics, Li encouraged richer exchanges in culture, tourism, education and sports to foster deeper people-to-people ties.
On the global stage, China and Serbia will collaborate at the United Nations and other multilateral platforms to advance four major global initiatives, uphold genuine multilateralism and strengthen global governance.
Prime Minister Macut reaffirmed Serbia’s firm commitment to the one-China principle and thanked China for its support in Serbia’s economic development. He expressed eagerness to expand cooperation in manufacturing, science and technology, and tourism, noting that China’s economic momentum promises new opportunities for both nations.
