Guangdong has continued its diving dominance at the 15th National Games of the Chinese mainland hosted in Guangzhou, securing its eighth consecutive men's team gold on Monday.
In the opening synchronized 3m springboard round, Huang Bowen and Xie Siyi kicked off for Guangdong with a solid 258.48 points, placing second behind Hubei's Wang Zongyuan and Zheng Jiuyuan (266.88). Teammates Guo Haoyu and Hu Yukang added 257.46 points to the provincial tally, anchoring a strong start.
The second round on the 10m platform saw Shaanxi's Zhao Renjie steal the spotlight with a personal best of 493.80 points. Yet Guangdong remained firmly in front thanks to Zhu Zifeng and Huang Jianjie, who pushed the team total to an impressive 1442.44 points by day's midway mark.
Hubei surged into silver position in round three as Wang and Xie delivered standout dives in the 3m springboard, but Guangdong's lead proved resilient.
In the final synchronized 10m platform showdown, Chen Aisen paired with Zhu Zifeng to score 267.12 points. Fresh faces Mo Yonghua and Zheng Junzhi sealed the victory with 223.08 points, cementing Guangdong's eighth straight men's team title.
Hubei claimed silver, while Shandong captured bronze, rounding out a thrilling competition at Guangzhou's premier aquatic venue.
