At the heart of Doha’s glittering skyline, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to chart a bold new chapter in China-Qatar ties. Against the backdrop of the Second World Summit for Social Development, both leaders underscored a shared vision for deeper cooperation across strategic sectors.
Han Zheng conveyed warm greetings from President Xi Jinping and praised Qatar’s role on the global stage. “Deep political mutual trust forms the foundation of China-Qatar relations,” he said, highlighting the consensus reached during last year’s Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus meeting.
Looking ahead, the two sides pledged to expand collaboration in energy, artificial intelligence and the digital economy. With China emerging from its recent policy reviews for the 15th Five-Year Plan, Han emphasized that the country’s growth trajectory will generate fresh opportunities for partners like Qatar.
For his part, Emir Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to the one-China principle and lauded China as its largest trading partner. He expressed gratitude for Beijing’s support in safeguarding Qatar’s sovereignty and signalled readiness to align with China’s development priorities.
As Doha welcomes global delegates to address social development challenges, the strengthened China-Qatar partnership sets the stage for joint ventures and innovation. This evolving alliance in energy and technology underscores a broader trend of cross-continental cooperation shaping tomorrow’s economic and social landscape.
