China and Russia Pledge Deeper Cooperation at 30th Leaders’ Meeting

In a clear signal of solidarity, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin co-chaired the 30th annual meeting of heads of government, reaffirming their commitment to deepen cooperation "in all fields" and safeguard shared development and security interests.

Since its launch in 1996, this regular forum has served as a key mechanism to translate high-level consensus into tangible projects and people-to-people exchanges. Hosted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, this year’s meeting also marked the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union—a milestone that both sides celebrated with grand commemorations.

Drawing on the "important consensus" reached by their heads of state, Li and Mishustin vowed to:

  • Strengthen strategic communication and high-level exchanges
  • Expand cooperation across trade, investment, transport, energy, agriculture, culture and the digital economy
  • Enhance cultural and people-to-people ties through visa-free travel and mobility
  • Boost collaboration in multilateral platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and the United Nations

Both leaders agreed that fully implementing their top-level consensus remains a priority, optimizing existing mechanisms and exploring new areas of joint action. The summit culminated in the signing of a joint communique and cooperation documents covering customs procedures and satellite navigation.

As the world watches, this renewed Sino-Russian partnership highlights a push toward a multipolar global order and an inclusive model of economic globalization—an approach poised to reshape trade corridors and regional dynamics for years to come.
