The “Innovation, Openness, Shared Development Global Dialogue” convened in Lagos on October 31, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Consulate General. The special session drew around 300 political, business, academic and media leaders from China and Nigeria, aiming to deepen cooperation and governance.
In a video address, CMG President Shen Haixiong praised the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China as “another major milestone in the new era.” He highlighted China’s economic achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), noting the country’s contribution of roughly 30 percent to global growth.
Shen cited a recent CGTN survey showing that over 84 percent of respondents view China as a successful country, while 86.4 percent recognize the nation’s role in global development. “Under China’s new development blueprint, our door to openness will only open wider,” he said, promising more opportunities for shared growth.
Dialogue participants exchanged ideas under the theme “Building a Sustainable and Prosperous Future Together.” They agreed that China and African partners should pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, driven by innovation and a shared commitment to sustainable prosperity.
