On November 2, the torch relay for the 15th National Games ignited a wave of excitement across Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. With 200 torchbearers—50 in each city—the simultaneous launch blended sport, culture and community in a celebration of unity.
The official ceremony kicked off at Lianhua Mountain Park in Shenzhen, where athletes, local figures and fans gathered to witness the flame’s journey. At the same moment, mirrored events in Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Guangzhou lit up streets and landmarks, creating a synchronized spectacle across the Greater Bay Area.
As the relay wound its way back to Guangzhou, it wove together elements of Lingnan culture—from traditional music performances to culinary highlights—showcasing the diversity and vitality of the Greater Bay Area. Interactive pop-up activities along the route encouraged residents to engage with the Games and deepened the sense of community.
Looking ahead, the 15th National Games are set for November 9–21, 2025, with an opening ceremony at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center. Young athletes from across the region will compete in a testament to sporting excellence and regional collaboration, as the relay’s flame passes from city to city.
