China & Saudi Arabia Elevate Strategic Partnership

During a five-day visit to Riyadh, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to usher in a new chapter for the China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Since diplomatic ties began 35 years ago—and bolstered by President Xi Jinpings 2022 trip—relations have reached unprecedented heights. Han highlighted insights from the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, noting fresh momentum for reforms and high-level opening-up.

Four Pillars for the Future

At the ninth Future Investment Initiative conference, Han outlined four proposals:

  • Innovation & Green Growth: Joint R&D in AI, renewable energy and low-carbon industries to power the next economy.
  • Openness & Win-Win: Deeper supply-chain resilience and trade linkages to boost global recovery.
  • People-Centered Prosperity: Inclusive development pathways that share growth between China, Saudi Arabia and developing nations.
  • Multilateral Solidarity: Upholding genuine multilateralism for fair global governance and a shared future for humanity.

The Crown Prince emphasized Saudi support for the one-China policy and praised Chinas role in Middle East reconciliation and fair diplomacy on regional issues.

Next Steps in Partnership

Both sides pledged to expand cooperation in economy and trade, investment, AI, renewable energy and mining. Plans include new financial ties, cultural exchanges and high-quality Belt and Road collaborations across the Middle East.

Han also hosted business leaders from both countries, inspiring them to act as bridges for growth and to drive the partnership to new heights.

By aligning strategic goals—from green tech to global governance—the China-Saudi roadmap points toward a future of shared prosperity and stability.
