On Saturday, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command accused the Philippines of destabilizing the South China Sea by orchestrating a 'joint patrol' with non-regional participants. The two-day exercise, conducted from October 30 to 31, triggered a sharp response from PLA spokesperson Tian Junli.
Tian said that the recent developments further confirm that the Philippines is acting as a 'troublemaker' on the South China Sea issue and as a disruptor of regional stability. He added that the PLA has mobilized forces to closely track and monitor the patrol, asserting that all efforts to stir up trouble are 'under firm control.'
Tian emphasized that PLA troops remain on high alert and are fully prepared to defend national sovereignty as well as maritime rights and interests. He stressed that the Southern Theater Command will take resolute measures against any unauthorized activities in the region.
With both sides maintaining vigilance, the South China Sea dispute remains at the forefront of regional security discussions, as nations watch for the next move in this strategic maritime arena.
