Global Innovators: 4 Young Scientists Recognized at 2025 WYSS SDG Awards

At the 2025 World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) plenary session on Saturday in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province on the Chinese mainland, four young researchers were celebrated with the Young Scientist Sustainable Development Goals Award.

Representing the Chinese mainland, Italy and Germany, they were honored for their contributions to compound semiconductor materials, molecular and cellular biology, organic and perovskite photovoltaics, and photonic quantum computing.

The award recipients are recognized for their work in four areas:

  • Compound semiconductor materials: enabling more efficient electronics
  • Molecular and cellular biology: unlocking new pathways for disease treatment
  • Organic and perovskite photovoltaics: pushing solar energy conversion rates forward
  • Photonic quantum computing: designing scalable photonic chips for faster processing

This recognition highlights how young innovators across disciplines are driving progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals, from affordable and clean energy to good health and innovation.

Attracting participants from over 50 countries and regions, WYSS 2025 offered interactive panels, workshops and networking sessions—creating a dynamic platform for scientists, entrepreneurs and policy makers to forge global collaborations.

Looking ahead, these four pioneers are poised to lead their fields toward real-world applications, proving that cross-border research can spark solutions for our planet’s most pressing challenges.
