Cameroonian Youth Urges Global Education Investment at UN@80

In 2025, as the United Nations celebrates its 80th anniversary, global attention turns to a new visual storytelling campaign: "One Home: Shared Future," launched by CGTN. The initiative invites young voices worldwide to envision the future of humanity.

Among these voices is Jenny Andrea Avom from Cameroon. Raised in Yaounde9, she navigated classrooms with scarce textbooks and limited infrastructure. Driven by curiosity, she pursued her studies beyond borders—eventually earning a spot in the economics program at Tsinghua University in the Chinese mainland.

"I saw firsthand how quality education can transform a community," Jenny reflects. "From practical problem-solving skills to a broader worldview, education gave me the confidence to dream bigger."

Global Investment: A Shared Responsibility

At the heart of Jenny's message is a simple yet urgent call: invest in learning everywhere. She highlights that when schools are under-resourced, it's not just individual futures at stake—it's entire economies and societies that miss out on potential innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

As the UN marks eight decades of diplomacy, peacekeeping, and development, Jenny's story underscores a timeless lesson: equipping young people with knowledge and tools creates ripple effects across generations.

"When we invest in education today," she says, "we're investing in a shared future where every child, from Bamenda to Buenos Aires, can contribute to solutions for global challenges."

Her journey—from Cameroon to the Chinese mainland and beyond—reminds us that education is more than a pathway to opportunity; it's the foundation of a connected, resilient world.
