Flash Floods in China’s Sichuan Province: Eight Bodies Recovered, Rescue Ongoing

Severe flash floods have wreaked havoc in southwest China's Sichuan Province, tragically claiming the lives of eight individuals and leaving over 30 residents missing.

The devastating disaster struck Xinhua village in Hanyuan County under Ya'an City around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, causing extensive damage to more than 40 homes and displacing 1,254 residents.

In response, local authorities swiftly mobilized 443 rescuers to the affected areas, working tirelessly to locate and assist those trapped by the rising waters.

As of 8 p.m. Saturday, rescuers have successfully retrieved eight bodies and brought four survivors to safety. Efforts to restore roads and communications have partially succeeded, allowing relief teams to accommodate displaced families and coordinate ongoing rescue operations.

The community remains vigilant as the rescue operation continues, with authorities urging residents to stay alert for further updates and support the recovery efforts.
