China Media Group (CMG) has kicked off a major logistics operation by dispatching its first batch of 8K and 4K ultra high-definition broadcast gear to Italy ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. On Monday, 1,026 items rolled out of CMG's Beijing headquarters in 18 box trucks, bound for the Port of Meishan in Ningbo before traveling to Italy in 10 shipping containers.
The cargo includes two Chinese Red UHD broadcasting vehicles, a cube UHD broadcasting system, and a suite of advanced modules. Before heading to Europe, the equipment will be showcased at the 15th National Games in China this November. Two additional sea shipments are scheduled, complemented by air and rail deliveries.
Home-Grown UHD on the Global Stage
For the first time, CMG will lead production of the 4K international standard signal for figure skating and short track speed skating events at the Winter Olympics, while also providing 4K and 8K support for the opening and closing ceremonies. According to Wang Dagang, CMG's technical runner for the 2026 Games, this milestone marks a break from European and American technology dominance and highlights the growth of home-grown innovation on the world stage.
Next Steps
As the countdown to Milano Cortina 2026 continues, all eyes will be on CMG's home-made broadcast systems, a demonstration that the next generation of UHD technology is a truly global competition.
