Top US Envoys Arrive in Israel to Reinforce Gaza Ceasefire

US Envoys Gear Up to Secure Gaza Ceasefire

This Monday, top US envoys Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner touched down in Israel to assess progress on the Gaza ceasefire plan. Their visit comes after weekend violence threatened to derail the fragile truce that has halted hostilities since October 10.

Kerem Shalom Crossing Reopens

Following the killing of two Israeli soldiers, Israel briefly shut the Kerem Shalom border crossing to Gaza. By Monday, humanitarian sources confirmed aid convoys were back on the move, easing pressure on Gaza27s civilian population.

Deadly Strikes and Commitments

Gaza27s civil defense agency, operating under Hamas authority, reported at least 45 fatalities in strikes across the territory on Sunday alone. Four hospitals corroborated the toll, while the Israeli military said it is reviewing all casualty claims.

Despite resumed airstrikes, both sides publicly reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire. In Washington, President Donald Trump27s office stated the truce "is still in effect" and vowed to handle any violations "toughly, but properly."

On-the-Ground Perspectives

In Rafah, residents described sudden clashes in areas still held by Israel. Abdullah Abu Hasanin, 29, from Al-Bureij camp, said, "The scene is indescribable. Blood has returned again."

His testimony highlights the human cost and the urgency behind the envoys27 mission: turn a fragile agreement into a lasting peace roadmap for Gaza27s future.
