On Thursday, Tanzanian Vice President Philip Mpango inaugurated the Ngorongoro-Lengai Geopark, marking a new chapter in geo-research and sustainable tourism.
The state-of-the-art facility was built with support from the Chinese government to foster geological research, heritage conservation, and tourism development.
Mpango, speaking for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, expressed his gratitude: "We appreciate the Chinese government's continued support in developing Tanzania's infrastructure, including this museum within the UNESCO-listed area," he said.
Located inside the renowned conservation zone, the Geopark includes a modern museum to showcase volcanic landmarks, fossils, and local culture, creating an immersive learning hub for researchers and travelers alike.
This collaboration highlights how international partnerships can drive infrastructure growth and sustainable travel across Africa, offering young explorers, scientists, and entrepreneurs fresh opportunities to connect with heritage and innovation.
