Frankfurt Launches 5th English Volume of Xi Jinping’s Governance Works

Frankfurt came alive on Tuesday as dignitaries gathered to unveil the English edition of the fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. This latest collection brings together 91 works spanning reports, speeches, articles and instructions across 18 topics, chronicling developments from May 27, 2022, to December 20, 2024.

Jointly organized by the State Council Information Office of China, the Chinese Embassy in Germany, the China International Communications Group and the Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main, the event highlighted how these writings reflect Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Organizers emphasized that these writings demonstrate the Chinese wisdom and solutions contributed by the Communist Party of China to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Cord Eberspaecher, a German sinologist and historian, praised the smooth translation and said the thematic speeches help international readers connect with China’s governance philosophy. David Ferguson, recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and honorary chief English editor of China’s Foreign Languages Press, described the work as “a comprehensive system” that balances domestic and international challenges with scientific rigor.

Christina Werum-Wang, director of the Frankfurt Confucius Institute, called the book “the key to unlocking the true China,” noting that its reflections on development, peace and governance offer fresh perspectives on global challenges.

Experts and scholars continued the conversation in a panel titled “Equality and inclusiveness: from dialogues among civilizations to global governance,” exchanging ideas on Chinese modernization, the Global Governance Initiative and mutual learning between Chinese and European civilizations.
