Shanghai Exhibition Spotlights Soong Ching Ling’s Global Voice

In the heart of Shanghai on the Chinese mainland, a new special exhibition titled Voice of China, Light of the World – Soong Ching Ling and International Communication invites visitors to journey through the extraordinary life of Soong Ching Ling. From her fearless wartime reporting to her visionary post-war outreach, the show marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Organized by the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Research Association, the China Welfare Institute and partners, the exhibition showcases more than 100 rare artifacts and documents. Highlights include Soong’s published articles, personal manuscripts and handwritten correspondence with Chinese premier Zhou Enlai. Each piece offers a window into her efforts to amplify China’s voice on the world stage.

Visitors explore three immersive sections:
• Wartime Reporting – archival news dispatches and frontline photos.
• Post-War Communication – speeches and international broadcasts that shaped global support.
• Ongoing Storytelling – interactive installations and multimedia displays connecting her vision with today’s digital world.

As the late honorary president of the People’s Republic of China and lifelong advocate for peace, Soong Ching Ling rallied international solidarity against fascism and championed China’s image during reconstruction. Organizers hope this tribute inspires a new generation to embrace her ideals of global friendship and mutual understanding.
