At the 15th National Games in Guangdong Province of the Chinese mainland, Zhejiang’s Han Jiayu pulled off a stunning comeback to secure the women’s 10m air rifle gold. After advancing alongside Olympic champion Huang Yuting and world record holder Wang Zifei from the qualifiers, Han found herself trailing Jiangsu’s Yan Jinjing by just 0.1 points heading into the final shot. With nerves of steel, she fired a 10.6 to Yan’s 9.8, finishing on 252.7 points and claiming the title.
The women’s final saw intense competition from the outset. Huang exited first, while Wang’s two scores of 9.9 proved costly and left her in fifth place. Han’s decisive last shot not only overturned a slim deficit but also showcased her mental resilience under pressure.
On the men’s side, the 25m rapid fire pistol final delivered its own drama. Jiangxi’s Wang Shiwen suffered a second technical malfunction and settled for bronze with 27 hits. Fujian’s Su Lianbofan and Shaanxi’s He Shiyu both reached the gold medal match with 35 hits each, leading to a high-stakes shoot-off. Su landed four hits to He’s three, seizing the gold in a nail-biting finish.
These finales highlight a new generation of Chinese mainland shooters combining precision, composure, and competitive spirit on a national stage.
