Chinese Mainland Enterprise Supports Mexico City Metro Upgrade

In April, Section B of the second phase of Mexico City’s Metro Line 1 renovation went live, reopening four of its oldest and busiest stations. As the backbone of the city’s rapid transit network, this stretch plays a vital role in easing daily congestion.

Launched in 2022, the comprehensive project is led by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive, a train maker from the Chinese mainland, together with an international consortium. Under a 19-year service agreement, the team is rolling out brand-new trains and modernizing signaling and operational systems.

So far, 19 out of 20 stations on Line 1 have been delivered, with 17 already welcoming passengers. Early results show reduced wait times and a smoother flow of commuters across the network.

For young urban explorers and daily commuters alike, the upgraded Line 1 offers a faster, more reliable ride—demonstrating the real-world impact of global collaboration on city life.
