Chinese Mainland Builds World’s Largest Meteorological Network

In a milestone for weather science, the Chinese mainland has built the world’s largest coordinated meteorological network. Spanning land, sea, air and space, this system delivers an unprecedented view of global weather patterns.

At its core are nine Fengyun meteorological satellites orbiting Earth, capturing cloud cover, temperature changes and atmospheric dynamics. On the ground, 842 weather radars scan the skies for precipitation and wind movements across regions.

Complementing these high-tech platforms are over 90,000 ground-based observation stations recording everything from humidity to soil moisture. By linking space-borne and terrestrial sensors, the network creates a seamless data stream for analysis in real time.

For digital nomads planning their next adventure, entrepreneurs tracking climate risks or sports fans waiting on game-day forecasts, this new system sets a global benchmark in weather observation and data-driven insights.
