A sudden blizzard on Sunday caught hundreds of trekkers off guard at campsites on the Chinese side of Mount Qomolangma. Local authorities told China Media Group that by Tuesday, all 580 stranded hikers had safely reached a designated meeting point in Xigaze City, Xizang Autonomous Region.
More than 300 local guides and hiking service personnel also arrived safely. Rescue forces continued working to lead another ten trekkers to the same meeting point, ensuring every group member was accounted for amid heavy snowfall and reduced visibility.
