Experience Macao: Macao Week Kicks Off at World Expo 2025 Osaka

Macao Week at the China Pavilion of World Expo 2025 Osaka officially opened on Friday, inviting global visitors to "Experience Macao" through a vibrant, three-day showcase.

Inside the pavilion, themed zones bring Macao's story to life. In the "Macao Impressions" area, soaring digital projections illuminate UNESCO World Heritage sites and leading tourism projects. Next, the "East-West Fusion" zone blends fireworks galas, food festivals and cross-cultural moments into an immersive narrative. Meanwhile, the "World Heritage Walk" uses interactive touchscreens to let visitors virtually roam the Historic Center of Macao, feeling the textures of centuries-old architecture.

Out on the plaza, the lovable tourism mascot Mak Mak poses for selfies, while energetic Portuguese folk dances and lion dance performances draw enthusiastic crowds. These live shows underscore Macao's blend of Chinese cultural roots and global influences.

This marks the first overseas World Expo platform appearance for the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) since its return to China on December 20, 1999, and its first return to the World Expo spotlight since Shanghai 2010. With over 1.7 million visitors touring the China Pavilion since April 13, this global stage offers Macao a powerful window to the world.

Organizers say the event highlights Macao's unique role as a bridge for cultural exchange and cooperation. By showcasing both heritage and high-tech innovation, Macao Week presents a "Macao model" for building an inclusive, diverse future society in a globalized world.

As the festival unfolds, entrepreneurs, culture buffs and digital nomads alike are invited to join interactive workshops and business exchanges. Whether it's sampling Macanese cuisine or exploring next-generation exhibit tech, Macao Week promises inspiration and insight for all.
