UN’s Global AI Vision: Inspiring Cooperation Beyond Borders

At a time when artificial intelligence is reshaping industries, experts warn that no single platform can tackle AI governance alone. Zeng Yi, professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and member of the UN’s AI Advisory Body, shared insights on a CGTN special titled Embrace the AI era: Global Governance Initiative in action.

“We cannot expect one platform to solve all problems,” Zeng Yi said, underscoring the need for a unified approach. While groups like the G20, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization address region-specific challenges, only the UN can connect these efforts into a cohesive strategy.

Drawing on the UN’s unique position, Zeng highlighted its role as a catalyst: inspiring various mechanisms to contribute to a global AI governance landscape. This collaborative model aims to leverage the strengths of regional blocks and foster shared standards.

For business leaders, tech enthusiasts, and policy makers, the call is clear: engage in multilateral dialogues, bridge policy gaps, and ensure AI’s benefits are shared equitably. As AI continues to evolve, the UN’s vision may serve as the blueprint for responsible innovation that transcends borders.
