Survivors Recall Central Philippines Quake’s Terrifying Impact

A magnitude-6.9 earthquake rocked the central Philippines on Tuesday. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the death toll has been revised down to 68 from an earlier 72, while injuries have risen to 559.

Survivors interviewed by a CGTN Stringer described the quake’s intensity. “There were some instances of aftershocks, felt everywhere. Our house is slightly damaged, it has cracks on our walls,” said Christian, emphasizing both the initial tremor and the lingering shakes that rattled homes.
