Xi Jinping Charts Ambitious Path for China’s 15th Five-Year Plan

In Beijing's Great Hall of the People, President Xi Jinping set the stage for China's 15th Five-Year Plan, a strategic roadmap guiding economic and social growth from 2026 to 2030. As the People's Republic marked its 76th anniversary, Xi highlighted the need for clear goals, pragmatic measures, and decisive progress toward socialist modernization.

Tech-Driven Growth

At an April symposium in Shanghai, Xi emphasized that technological innovation will drive high-quality growth. He called for transforming traditional industries, nurturing emerging sectors, and forging a modern industrial system. Strengthening basic research, boosting original innovation, and targeting core technologies will build new economic drivers.

People at the Center

An online consultation attracted over 3.11 million suggestions, covering ideas from AI monitoring tools for seniors to more community sports facilities and science education programs. Xi urged authorities to integrate public feedback, reinforcing a people-centered approach that meets citizens' needs.

Balancing Development and Security

Xi stressed weighing growth against domestic and external risks. A July Political Bureau meeting paved the way for an October plenary session of the Central Committee, where key proposals will be reviewed to ensure stability alongside progress.

Path to 2035

This plan is part of a three-phase cycle aiming for socialist modernization by 2035. With its focus on innovation, public engagement, and risk management, China is charting an ambitious course toward a resilient, modern economy.
