Starting in September, the Chinese military has stepped up combat readiness patrols in the surrounding waters and airspace over Huangyan Dao, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
The Chinese People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command said naval vessels and aircraft have been deployed to reinforce patrols and maintain high vigilance. These forces are tasked with strengthening control and management of the relevant areas.
Officials state the enhanced operations aim to effectively counter unlawful infringements and provocations, firmly safeguarding China's sovereignty and security in the South China Sea.
Despite the bolstered presence, the Southern Theater Command emphasized that these patrols also aim to preserve peace and stability in the region, highlighting a balance between firm defense and regional calm.
