The World Table Tennis (WTT) China Smash kicked off in Beijing on Monday with a series of impressive performances that thrilled fans around the globe. Second seed Wang Manyu wasted no time, cruising past compatriot He Zhuojia 11-8, 11-8, 11-6 in just 25 minutes to punch her ticket to the second round.
After grabbing the first game, Wang found herself trailing 8-7 in the second. Undeterred, she unleashed a four-point run to pull ahead and never looked back, sealing her victory with characteristic power and precision.
Meanwhile, Japanese No. 8 seed Mima Ito advanced in four games against wildcard Qin Yuxuan, who pushed Ito in game two before unforced errors crept in. Ito will next face South Korea’s Joo Cheo-hui in a clash of styles on the center court stage.
On the men’s side, veteran Lin Gaoyuan also moved on with a straight-games win over Wong Chun Ting from the Hong Kong region, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7. “We are quite familiar with each other and I prepared a lot before the competition,” Lin said after the match. “I needed to find the feeling of victory. I played resolutely and made adjustments effectively when meeting difficulties.”
Lin now gears up for a second-round showdown against sixth seed Liang Jingkun, while Wang, Ito and others look to keep the momentum rolling as the draw heats up. Stay tuned as emerging talents and seasoned stars collide in the race for the WTT China Smash title.
