Pilot Visa-Free Scheme Launches
South Korea has introduced a pilot visa-free entry program for tourist groups from the Chinese mainland, the nation's largest visitor segment. Kicking off from September 29, this initiative arrives just in time for the Chinese mainland's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, which traditionally spark a surge in outbound travel.
Short-Term Surge, Long-Term Gains
Yohan Park, managing vice president at the Chinese mainland regional headquarters of Korean Air, told CGTN Digital that the visa-free policy is expected to drive a short-term influx of visitors. "We anticipate a welcome boost in numbers that will also push South Korea's tourism infrastructure to evolve and stay competitive over the long haul," Park said.

"To the Chinese people, we hope you experience our warm hospitality and K-culture," Park added. He also encouraged Koreans to explore the Chinese mainland firsthand: "China is close and surprisingly new. We hope you experience it by yourself."
