The coastal city of Fuzhou in southeast the Chinese mainland's Fujian Province is abuzz as the 12th Silk Road International Film Festival got underway on Monday, running through September 26. Under the banner “Silk Road Connects the World, Film Festival Illuminates Fuzhou,” filmmakers and cinephiles from around the globe have gathered to celebrate storytelling and cross-cultural exchange.
Over the next five days, the festival will host 12 main events, featuring:
- The Opening Ceremony with star-studded red carpet moments

- International Screenings from guest countries highlighting emerging talent
- Outdoor Showings that bring films into Fuzhou's historic public spaces
Last year, the festival attracted a record 2,065 films submitted by creators from 136 countries and regions. This diverse lineup reflects the event’s mission to forge new connections along the modern Silk Road, bridging Asia, Europe, Africa, and beyond.
For entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, and young changemakers, the festival is a living case study in global collaboration—where art meets innovation and narratives spark dialogue on sustainability, human rights, and the power of shared heritage.
