China Urges Immediate End to Gaza Crisis at UN Security Council

At a UN Security Council session on Tuesday, Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, delivered a powerful message: the Gaza tragedy must end now. Emphasizing that "the Middle East once again stands at a historical crossroads," Geng called on the international community to choose dialogue over conflict and to ease tensions across the region.

Just hours earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres underscored the urgency of the moment, warning that in Gaza "the horrors are approaching a third monstrous year" and that the scale of suffering has reached unprecedented levels in his tenure. He urged the full and immediate implementation of International Court of Justice measures, a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages and unimpeded humanitarian access.

Riyad Mansour, the permanent observer of the State of Palestine to the UN, added that recognizing the State of Palestine is about supporting the people's right to self-determination, not as a courtesy but as a legitimate right. He stressed that Palestinians should not be trapped under occupation, just as Israelis should not be forced to live in perpetual conflict.

China's call for fair and just solutions echoes across borders, inviting global citizens, young activists and policymakers alike to reimagine a path toward lasting Middle East peace. As the debate unfolds, the world watches—hoping that the UNSC's decisions will translate into real change on the ground and pave the way for a sustainable, two-state solution.
