Xi Jinping Lands in Urumqi for Xinjiang Uygur Region’s 70th Anniversary

Under the bright skies of Urumqi, President Xi Jinping touched down on Tuesday, leading a central delegation to mark the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's 70th founding anniversary. The Chinese leader was greeted by the vibrant cheers of residents from various ethnic groups, reflecting the region's rich cultural tapestry.

Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, joined local celebrations highlighting seven decades of development on the furthest western frontier of the Chinese mainland.

He arrived alongside top officials Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the central delegation, and Cai Qi, director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee. Both are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, underscoring the significance of this milestone event.

As Urumqi bursts with music and cultural displays, the 70th anniversary offers travelers and digital nomads a glimpse of a region where heritage meets innovation.
